Last Minute

Once in May, but not summer yet
Spring showers leaving the grass still wet
My friend, the adventurer decided he would
Take a journey 'round the world, if he could
And should not get the idea in his head
That he'd rather post in his blog instead
But that he'd find something interesting to see
In every old farmhouse, in every grand city
So when he returns--it would be quite a spell
He'd have lots of exciting stories to tell
"Maybe I'll swim across the red sea!
Maybe I'll find my heart in Sicily!
In China, I'll use chopsticks to eat
In Ireland, accomplish some heroic feat
In fact, I'll be quite world-renowned!"
He said with enthusiasm, and I was astounded
"This would cost so much money to do
For planes and hotels and passport book, too
And it would take time- not to be a snob,
But you'd probably have to quit your job."
He pondered a moment, then without a doubt
Said, "Friend you have nothing to worry about
For I've managed to save a decent amount
Of money in my bank account!"
"Well there's not much more that I can say,
When do you plan to make your way?"
He said, "I just can't wait! I'm too excited to speak!
I think my journey will begin next week!"
